In January 2016, Mortel, along with co-star Janella Salvador, interpreted “Mananatili,” one of the top 15 finalists in the 2016 Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs. The song, composed by Francis Louis Salazar, showcased Mortel’s musical prowess.
Mortel’s career took a significant turn when he portrayed Nicolo Angelo Cortez in the daytime series “Be Careful with My Heart.” Originally not slated for a substantial role, Mortel’s chemistry with Janella Salvador prompted an expansion of his character.
