Interesting Facts About Mimi Lesseos
Mimi Lesseos, raised in Hollywood, California, is the youngest among five siblings, born to a Greek father and a Latin mother. Her journey into the world of martial arts began at the tender age of six.
In 1988, Lesseos made her debut in the American Wrestling Association (AWA), where she vied against notable female wrestlers like Candi Devine and Lori Lynne, striving to become the top contender for the AWA World Women’s Championship held by Madusa Miceli.
Despite Miceli’s reluctance to grant her singles matches, Lesseos persisted by interrupting Miceli’s title defenses against other contenders like Susan Sexton and Brandi Mae. She also formed alliances, teaming up with Wendi Richter in tag team matches against Miceli and Sylvia.
Throughout the summer and fall of 1988, Lesseos engaged in a fierce feud with Miceli but couldn’t clinch the title. Interestingly, despite never holding the AWA World Women’s Championship, Lesseos was featured in the December 1989 issue of Playboy magazine, posing with the championship belt.
Following the closure of AWA, Lesseos transitioned to the Ladies Professional Wrestling Association (LPWA), where she continued her pursuit of championship glory. Competing against formidable opponents like Malia Hosaka, Sindy Paradise, and Dawn Marie, she also formed a tag team with Denise Storm, engaging in memorable rivalries with Terri Power and Reggie Bennett.
After bidding farewell to professional wrestling in 1994, Lesseos ventured into the realms of television and film. Her credits include appearances in various TV series and films, both as an actress and stuntwoman. Notable among her works are “Streets of Rage” (1994), “Pushed to the Limit” (1992), “Double Duty” (2009), “Personal Vendetta” (1995), and “Beyond Fear” (1993).
Additionally, she served as Jane Kaczmarek’s longtime stuntwoman on “Malcolm in the Middle.”
Apart from her professional endeavors, Lesseos is a devoted single mother to twin children.
