Mito embarked on her modeling career in 2010, eventually making her debut in prominent Japanese magazines like Mer, Zip, and Non-no in 2013. The release of her self-produced photoshoot book titled “Natsume-san” in the same year gained significant popularity, selling 50,000 copies.
In January 2015, Mito’s talent agency, Asobisystem, secured her a recording contract under Sony Music Associated Records, a sublabel of Sony Music Japan. It was announced that her music would be produced by Yasutaka Nakata, known for being one-half of the Japanese electronica duo Capsule.
February 2015 marked the announcement of Mito’s debut single, “Maegami Kirisugita,” released on April 8, 2015. Additionally, she contributed the theme song “Colony” to the Japanese romantic movie “Koisuru Vampire,” which served as a B-side to her debut single.
