Born on November 2, 1972, Steve Edge is an English actor, accomplished writer, and former comedian, widely recognized for his contributions to popular shows such as Starlings, Phoenix Nights, The Cup, The Visit, Peep Show, and the satirical magazine show Star Stories.
In 2009, Steve Edge co-wrote the BBC1 show “Walk on the Wild Side” alongside Jason Manford. Not only did he contribute to the writing, but he also lent his voice to the show, notably for the character of the Marmot repeatedly shouting “Alan.”
Continuing his creative endeavors, Edge wrote and narrated BBC3’s “Almost Famous III” in 2009 and returned in 2010 with the highly regarded sequel “Almost Famous IV.”
From 2007 to 2011, Edge served as a program associate and writer on the popular television panel show “8 out of 10 Cats.”
In 2002, he showcased his acting talent in a series of improvised advertisements directed by Graham Linehan for the now-defunct ITV Sport Channel.
Steve Edge, originally from Cannock, Staffordshire, England, pursued his education at Stafford College and the University of Salford. His career began in 1997, and for the next seven years, he worked steadily as a comedian.
From March to November 2004, Steve, along with Paddy McGuinness, Archie Kelly, and Janice Connolly, toured a live stand-up show titled “Jumping on the Bandwagon,” a playful nod to the success of Peter Kay’s “Phoenix Nights.” The final performance took place at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.
Edge gained significant fame for portraying Alan, one half of the double-act Les Alanos, alongside Les, played by Toby Foster, in “That Peter Kay Thing,” “Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights,” and “Max and Paddy’s Road To Nowhere.” He reprised the role in 2015 for “Phoenix Nights LIVE,” a charitable endeavor that raised £5 million for Comic Relief with 16 shows at Manchester Arena.
Since 1995, Steve Edge has called Didsbury, a suburb of Manchester, his home. Notably, he revealed on Soccer AM that he is a devoted Wolverhampton Wanderers season ticket holder, occupying a seat in the Stan Cullis Stand.
In August 2014, he tied the knot, with friend and colleague Jason Manford serving as the best man. Additionally, Edge is the proud godfather to Manford’s twin daughters.
